KATHMANDU VALLEY
The valley comprises of the three cities of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur which share amongst themselves the seven World Heritage sites. The valley is one vast open air museum of Newari culture with its colossal ensemble of sculptures, temples, monuments and magnificent artwork on display.

Major places of interest in KATHMANDU are 

  • Durbar Square, a world heritage site is an ensemble of palaces, courtyards and temples built between the 12th and the 18th centuries by Malla Kings.
  • Swayambhu Nath Stupa another world heritage site is one of the holiest Buddhist sites that keeps watch over the valley from the top of a hillock 
  • Boudhanath Stupa, the largest stupa in the valley that rises 36 m is also a world heritage site 
  • Pasupathinath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu Shrines in the world is also considered as a World Heritage Site.
  • Tsomgo Narayan Temple (a Worlds Heritage Site), is  dedicated to the Lord Vishnu and one of the finest and oldest specimens of pagoda architecture.

PATAN

In Patan, place to visit include 

  • Durbar Square (a World Heritage Site) with its enchanting palace buildings, artistic courtyards and pagoda temples.
  • Mahaboudha, a 14th century Buddhist Monument is a fine example of the terra cotta artwork.
  • Kwa Bahal(the Golden Temple), a 12th century Buddhist monastery is exceptionally rich in fine wood-carvings and repouses works
  • Kumbheswar is one of the only three temples in the valley with five roofs.

BHAKTAPUR

Bhaktapur's attractions are just as spectacular. They are the 

Durbar Square (a world Heritage Site) with its 15th century Palace of 55 Windows and an entrance known as the Golden Gate - a masterpiece in repouse the towering five roofed Natyapola Temple.

  • Tachapal Square famed for its many ornate Hindu monasteries called Math.
  • Potters Square (Bolachhen), when potters mold clay into earthenware.
  • Surya Binayak, dedicated to the Hindu God Ganesh/ Binayak.

AROUND NEPAL

POKHARA

The most beautiful city,200 kms west of Kathmandu, is a blend of rich farmlands and forested hills and a half dozen lakes. The 124 square kilometer valley at an average altitude of 900 metres is cut by the Seti Gandaki River, one of 

the seven Gandaki rivers that bisects the central hills. The excellent soil makes the valley a verdant assortment of flowers anywhere. For everyone, Pokhara is a wonderfully relaxing place.The visitors enjoy from Pokhara the magnificent views of Dhaulagiri, Mansalu, Machapuchere(Fish Tail), the fine peaks of Annapurna range.

ANNAPURNA

This most popular trekking route in Nepal, begins from Pokhara and leads you through rhododendron forests over the foothills of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains. The Kali Gandaki Gorge, the deepest in the world ,and Lake Tilicho, the highest lake at 4,919 m, are located here. The highest elevation reached on the trek is 5,416 m.

ROYAL CHITWAN NATIONAL PARK
Royal Chitwan National Park, a world Heritage Site in the south- central Nepal, is 932 sq km of subtropical lowlands of Sal forests, tall grass lands. ox-bow lakes and flood plains. Asia's best managed park is home to 50 species of 

mammals, 55 species of amphibians and reptiles and 525 species of birds. Wildlife found here include the one horned rhinoceros, Royal Bengal tiger, guar and wild elephant, gharial crocodiles and gigantic dolphin. Tharus are the indigenous inhabitants of Chitwan. Activities such as jungle safari on elephant back, jungle walks, canoe ride ,village tour and jeep drive can be enjoyed in Chitwan.

LUMBINI

Lumbini, in the south west, is the birth place of Lord Buddha and a World Heritage Site. An Inscription on the Ashoka Pillar identifies the sacred garden as the place where the Buddha was born. Lumbini has a number of artistic temples and monasteries built through International support.

KHUMBU VALLEY

Khumbu Valley in the Everest region is another popular destination for trekkers. Ringed by towering mountains, it is the home to the three of the worlds tallest peaks, namely Everest(8,848m), Lhotse(8,516m) and Cho Oyu(8,201m). A hair raising flight lands you at Lukla (2,850m) from where the trail leads to the Sherpa Village of Namche Bazaar, Tengboche monastery set against the backdrop of the picturesque Ama Dablam(6,812m) And finally, Everest base camp.

NAGARKOT

Nagarkot is a popular hill destination, situated 32 kms east of Kathmandu at an altitude of 2,175 m. The panoramic view of the major peaks in the eastern Nepal Himalaya including the Sagarmatha. Himalayan peaks like Mansalu,

Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Choba Bhamre, Gaurishankar and Numbur are also clearly seen from Nagarkot. This is an ideal spot for sunrise view and the road is motorable from Kathmandu

HATIBAN

13 kms drive from Kathmandu to Hatiban Resort crosses the Bagmati River to the west of the city and passes the town of Kirtipur. The road then winds uphill gently to the resort. This place commands a 160 degree view of the Kathmandu Valley as well as the Himalaya range from Ganesh Himal to Mt.Everest.

DHULIKHEL

The ancient town is situated 30 kms east of Kathmandu and is one hours drive on the side of the Arnico Highway (Kathmandu-Kodari Highway). DAMAN

It is situated 80 kms south west of Kathmandu at an altitude of about 2,400 metres. Daman is located on the Thribuhavan Highway in between Kathmandu and the town of Birganj. For the view of the breathtaking grandeur of the worlds highest peaks extending in one glittering are from far west of to far east of Sagarmatha (Mt.Everest) there is no better place than tower fitted along with range telescopes. Daman can be reached in four hours from Kathmandu.

It is situated 104 kms west of Kathmandu, the 3 hrs drive to reach Kurintar. The resort is situated on the banks of river Trishuli River. Jomsom(Mustang)situated at an altitude of 8,800ft in the Transhimalayan region of Nepal and nesteled between MountHilgiri(7060m)and Dhaulagiri(8167m).In addtion to the ancient temples and monasteries,high altitude lakes,rivers,caves can be seen here.JOMSOM is not the only popular trekking daetination in Nepal but also the gateway to upper Mustang"Kingdom" within the hindu Kingdom of Nepal.Jomsom is the gateway to the Muktinath Temple that holds great religious significance to both Buddhists and Hindus. There are no motorable roads connecting Pokhara and Jomsom, the only other option for guests is trekking to Jomsom from Pokhara which takes about six days.
